Call for Proposals - External Evaluator
Posted 20 January 2012, 10:33 am AST
CALL FOR PROPOSALS
"LEARNING FOR LIFE ~ PREVENTING DIABETES" PROJECT

BACKGROUND

NunatuKavut has received a 24-month contribution agreement through Health Canada's Urban First Nations, Inuit and Métis Diabetes Prevention (UFNIMDP) stream of the Aboriginal Diabetes Initiative (ADI) to undertake an Aboriginal diabetes awareness and prevention project. The objectives of this proposal builds upon our past program of type 2 diabetes awareness-raising which ended over two years ago. In this proposed project we would like to incorporate practical, action-oriented community level prevention initiatives with NunatuKavut members playing a major role. As a result, these initiatives are likely to vary with each community depending upon needs, interests and resources. We also propose to work closely with partners in every community to enhance their programming and to deliver some of our activities.

NunatuKavut is seeking to hire an external evaluator to conduct the process and outcome evaluation for this project. The process and outcome evaluation will specify if we achieved what we have set out to do with the funding received from Health Canada. .

In addition to the process and outcome evaluation, the contracted evaluator, in consultation with the staff and the advisory committee, as well as the partners, will develop a plan to measure the short and long-term outcome of the project.

CALL
NunatuKavut invites proposals that outline the major components of a process and outcome evaluation. In consultation with the staff, advisory committee and community partners, the successful applicant will be asked to conduct an independent evaluation that will examine the process used to undertake the project and an opportunity to review and enhance the project from an outside perspective. The evaluation documentation will also be useful for future initiatives.

Duties of the successful applicant will entail:

(1) Involvement of members of the advisory committee, youth & Elders, partners and community members in the evaluation;

(1) Provide a cover letter;
