Labrador Metis Nation Bursary Program
Labrador Metis Nation Bursary Program
Fall Semester 2010
The Bursary Program awards bursaries to post-secondary students based on Metis ancestry, Labrador residency, labour market prospects and merit. Bursaries are awarded in collaboration with the Labrador Metis Nation Human Resource Development Committee.
Delivered by: Labrador Metis Nation Human Resource Development (HRD) Program.
Eligibility Information
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
Be members of the Labrador Metis Nation and permanent residents of
Labrador.
Have re-applied for the LMN membership renewal.
Be enrolled full-time in a Government recognized university (generally 5 courses).
Have successfully completed and passed the previous year of post-secondary education.
Applicants are eligible for a degree program. Preference will be given to students in their final year of study.
Applicants are eligible for one program only.
A second degree wouldn't be eligible in the event the first one was funded by the LMN.
Documented a clear career path.
Has maintained a 60% average over the course of their university career.
Not receiving other forms of funding from the Labrador Metis Nation
Application Information
Students will be selected based on the eligibility information outlined herein and assessed by a designated Labrador Metis Nation Human Resource Development Officer and the Human Resource Development Committee.

Evaluation Criteria
Applicants will be screened based on LMN membership, Labrador residency, a clear career path, labour market research, labour market priority, academic performance and year of study. Point for the application will be awarded as follows:
o0-10 points for documented career path, awarded by the career counselor.
o10 fixed points awarded by the HRD Committee if the program of study is considered a labour market priority. The priorities include training in the fields of medical, engineering, a business concentration, social work, legal, and teaching.
o0-20 points for academic performance. 0 points will be awarded for an academic average below 60%, 5 points for an average between 61% - 70%, 10 points for an average between 71% - 80%, 15 points for an average between 81% -90% and 20 points for an average between 91%-100%.
o30 points will be awarded for applicants in their final year of a degree program, 20 points in the second last year and 10 points in the third last year.

-Complete skills development application. □
