POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position: Human Resources Student

Organization: Labrador-Grenfell Health

Location: Labrador Health Centre

Reports to: Manager & Regional Director of Human Resources

Primary Purpose:

The primary purpose of this position is to participate in and coordinate various Human Resources projects and activities within Labrador-Grenfell Health. The student will also assist in daily duties to gain exposure and experience in Human Resources/Labour Relations in a healthcare environment.

Qualifications:

Current enrolment in a Bachelor of Commerce program from an approved college or university with a concentration in Human Resource Management/Labour Relations or an equivalent combination of education.

Some knowledge/experience in Human Resources/Labour Relations.

Superior computer skills in Microsoft Office including Work, Excel, PowerPoint & Access.

Superior written/oral communication and interpersonal skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Participates in Human Resources projects to ensure efficiency and organization in the Human Resources Department. Such projects may include:

Compile an inventory of post-secondary institutions throughout Canada offering Nursing and Social Worker programs – including information i.e. time of graduation, size of classes, recruitment opportunities, contact information, etc.

Organizing and maintaining an inventory of reclassifications;

Develop and maintain an inventory for employment inquiries;

Develop an Orientation Package for new hires relocating to the community; Develop a brochure focused on CYFS offices;

Supports the Manager, Human Resources in daily assignments and tasks with respect to recruitment, selection, labour relations, collective agreement administration, pensions and benefits, and related areas.

Provides assistance, when necessary, to the Recruitment and Retention Officer in planning, researching and coordinating recruitment and retention activities.

Attends various meetings/forums with management, staff, union representatives, etc to gain exposure and experience to specific activities and issues in a healthcare environment.

Conduct research and draft policies as required.

Travel may be required.

Participates in other related tasks as required
