2010 BERNIE HEARD BURSARY
Bursary Program
Bernie Heard was an active member of the Labrador Metis Nation who passed away January 2008. He served as both the Vice President and Interim President for a period and is dearly missed. Along with his love of music he was also very interested in his Labrador roots and culture.
In memory of Mr. Heard, the LMN will administer a one $1 000.00 bursary, which was donated by a Metis member. It is intended to assist a post secondary student studying Music or History.
The Bursary Program awards one bursary to a post-secondary student based on Metis ancestry, merit and enrollment in a Bachelor of Arts program, with a concentration in Music or History. The bursary will be awarded in collaboration with the NunatuKavut (formerly Labrador Metis Nation) Human Resources Department Committee in memory of Mr. Bernie Heard.

Eligibility Information
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
Be members of the NunatuKavut (formerly Labrador Metis Nation)
Have re-applied for the LMN membership renewal.
Be enrolled full-time in a Government recognized university
(generally 5 courses).
Be enrolled and majoring in a degree focused in Music or History
Have successfully completed and passed the previous semester of
post-secondary education.
Has maintained a 60% average over the course of their university
career.
Applicants may apply in writing by submitting an essay focusing on why you feel you are a suitable candidate to receive this bursary.
Most recent marks from post secondary institution currently enrolled.
As well applicants are required to complete the Client Information Form
